FOUR CORNERS: An Installation Show
Saturday, January 23, 2010

// ABOUT THE ARTISTS //
A recent Ringling graduate, Anthony Zollo finds his muse in the act of creating. That is to say, his work reveals itself during the process of making it. Anthony was one of the last artists to show at the old Tampa Museum of Art, with an installation piece he co-created and which centered on the ideas of demolition and reconstruction.
Bask's richly textural work imbue his “anti-iconic,” sometimes satirical worldview with an undercurrent of dark emotion. His canvases are the city’s flotsam and jetsam of industrial and consumer decay. Combining his graphic skill with his trademark multi-layered applications, Bask builds up the surface only to break down the image. “My art is a type of deconstruction,” says Bask, “I try to focus on the imperfection of things, rather then their unachievable perfection.”
Frank Strunk uses his background, skill and love for all things old and mechanized to craft art that speaks in metaphor. Frank believes that as a society, our careers have taken precedence over our “selves” making our lives little more than a mechanism of a larger, thoughtless, cold “machine.” By dissecting this culture, his art reveals the ways we have stifled self-expression and how our lives have become disconnected.
Often using humble materials previously destined for landfills, Gali Nieves creates imaginative and whimsical environments rich in texture and context. Most recently, Gali has brought her art of transforming interior spaces to Anthropologie, where she works as the Display Coordinator.
